Comes the Word of Yahweh in Parables

Comes the Word of Yahweh to Einhefetz

Thus comes the Word of Yahweh to Einhefetz[1], saying, “Ben-Adam[2], man of God, what is this noise I hear?”

Then answers Einhefetz the Word of Yahweh, saying, “I hear the voices of children calling to one another as they play in the garden. They are sounds of joy and laughter and the excitement of discovery. The world to them is teeming with life and creatures they do not yet know.”

Then answers the Word of Yahweh to Einhefetz with these words, saying, “Open your ears again, O seer, and tell me what you hear.”

Then Einhefetz opens again his ears to hear the sounds of children’s laughter. Then turns Einhefetz to the Word of Yahweh, saying, “Where are the children? I hear only sounds of distress and cries of grief and loneliness. Gone is the laughter and excitement, for all is sorrow and gloom. These are not the cries of the children. Have they died or been taken captive? What has become of the children?”

Then hears Einhefetz the Word of Yahweh, the One who created the heavens and the earth, filling it with life and light, saying with these words, “Open your eyes, O seer! Do you not recognize the children? These are the same children who laughed in the garden, the same children I brought into being and fashioned by the will of my voice. They have lost their zeal for life and discovery. They believe they have explored the extent of my garden and there is nothing more for them to learn and enjoy among all of my works. They forget the garden I create, thinking only of the toys they make for themselves. Their toys are empty, and do not fill them with life as the works of my voice.”

Then comes the Word of Yahweh again to Einhefetz, saying, “Arise, Einhefetz, you shall go to these children. You shall remind them of the joys of my garden. You shall warn them that they toys they fashion as monuments to their own name are as nothing before the works of my hands. They do not fill them with life and the joy of my garden. Rather than the joy and rest that my works would provide, their works are devoid of life and joy and suck the marrow from their own bones. See, I have given life to all the works of my hands, for I have life to share. The works of their hands have no life in them, for they know not how to breath life into their works.”

“Arise, Einhefetz, say to this people who are crying in despair, call out to them with a loud voice and remind them of the joy and rest they can have in the works of my hands. I breathe life into the garden around them, yet they will not come near to it. Call them back to the joy of life and the discovery of the deeds of my hands that they might breathe life and joy and rest from the joys I have provided for them.”

So Einhefetz arises and goes to the children, the ones who cry no longer of joy and excitement for the marvels of the garden. He speaks to the children, calling them back from the works of their hands that cannot fulfill that they might rejoice in the fullness of life in the garden of Yahweh.

Then turns Einhefetz to the One who spoke life into being, saying with these words, “O Yahweh, giver of life, they will not heed my call, for no longer do they remember the joy of discovery in the garden of your Word. They now hear for too long that the deeds of their own hands surpass the wonder of life in the garden and will not heed my cry. Their despair is too great and they quake in fear at the abundance of life they do not understand. They fear that the works of life in the garden will suck out the little bit of life remaining in the marrow of their bones, and recoil in fear.”

Comes then the Word of Yahweh once more to Einhefetz, the Seer, saying, “Call again to the children. Cry out to them that I might hear again the sounds of laughter in my garden, that they might be filled again with life and not death. Call again to them, and do not fear. Remind them of the joy of laughter in the garden. Some of them will gather courage and come. Fear not, only call to them that my joy might be full and fill them once more.”

Then Einhefetz arises and speaks all these words according as Yahweh speaks to him. Some of the children turn into the garden and are again full of wonder and life and joy. Many are yet afraid.

Thus is the Word of Yahweh come to Einhefetz, the seer.
