Tower of Faith
He said to multiply and spread.
We built a tow’r to take the throne away.
Our plans were great, our efforts null.
Our toungues he changed and sent our plans astray.
Defiance built a wall He broke.
We strove against a love we could not see.
He came to walk among this host,
And what we saw we nailed upon a tree.
From Babel He was never far,
And yet we fled His presence in our fear.
Creating flesh, He came in peace
So we might trust the love that bled its tear.
How long until we learn to trust
The One who walks among the fearful lost?
If we could see the pain He feels
Might we not trust that He has paid all cost?
The tow’r I choose to leave behind,
Step out in faith that God in love will guide.
The tower would have fallen down,
But on the plains with me He will abide.
Trust not the plans to overthrow
The sovereign Lord enthroned above this sphere.
Let’s trust the plans the cross has made
And know that He will dry up every tear.
