Stay the Course

Upon a journey I embarked with course
To reach a shore beyond the foaming brine
In safety of a vessel fair with shine
And polish o’er both helm and mast. The source
Of power filled the sails to carry out
The mission venture as ordained before
A step upon the plank I’d made from shore
To reach the final port. Amid the doubt
From rising waves and sails now torn by wind
That rages, stripping luster as it woes
The vessel’s will to alter course and cruise
Another sea, abandoning the end.
The ship is on another course while I
Must cross the waves that steer the ship awry.
